The 11th Conference on Cooperative Development and Sharing of Chinese Resources (hereinafter referred to as CCDSCR) will take place this October in Macao. Adopting the theme ‘Post-digital Era : the Cooperation, Utilization and Promotion of Chinese Resources’, CCDSCR aims to encourage co-operation in using Chinese resources between libraries from different regions.
The CCDSCR, which was first held in 2000, is an important internationalacademic conference that serves to connect all libraries and information institutions worldwide that hold Chinese documents, and to promote the cooperative development and sharing of Chinese resources among these organizations. The conference has been held 10 times in locations such as Beijing, Taipei, Macao, Nanjing, Hong Kong, Dunhuang and Lanzhou. 14 cooperative projects have been established since the first conference, involving different aspects including catalogues of rare books, rubbings, genealogy, digitization of Chinese documents and name authorities.
The 11th CCDSCR is organized by the Department of Public Library Management of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government. Some 20 guests from the Cross-straits Regions, Hong Kong, Macao and other regions of Asia, the United States, and Europe as well as professionals from libraries and relevant organizations have been invited to participate in and deliver speeches at the event.
CCDSCR Council
CCDSCR has its own Council, comprising representatives of the National Library of China, National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking
University Library, Centre for Chinese Studies, Taiwan, Hong Kong Public Libraries, Department of Public Library Management of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Macao Library and Information Management Association and East Asian Library, University of Chicago . The Council manages and supervises meetings as well as monitors the progress of cooperative projects.
